April 2023 Update #1

April Bumper Newsletter #1

Welcome to our two part April Newsletter. There have been so many activities, and photos, since our March issue that this issue will be in two parts. Hopefully #2 will be on it’s way to you tomorrow. Graham

Painting at The Hangar
A few of the regular attendees at The Hangar put in a couple of hours to touch up some of the paintwork. Great improvement!

Contributors included Milos, John C, Malcolm, Russell C, Lloyd, Rene and Don.

Working Bee at The Hangar

On Tuesday 28 March, we had a terrific turnout of members giving our much appreciated venue, The Hangar, an Autumnal clean up. The place was spruced up inside and out and we thank all the blokes who rolled up their sleeves and assisted with hands-on support. We also gained the rest of our ‘family’ of wooden members out the front of The Hangar following a lot of work from some of the boys at The Shed @ Stringers.

Member’s Lunch on Wednesday 29 March

A very successful Member’s Lunch was held at The Hangar on Wednesday 29 March. About 35 members attended and enjoyed a very convivial time over delish Fish n Chips, and a glass or so of a tasty beverage. We are grateful for new member Troy’s fascinating talk about his work in the automotive industry and outback rallies. Good one Troy!

Troy gave a very engaging talk and his success in such a unique and challenging area was inspirational.

Your Lunches and Functions Sub Committee (Lino, Warren, JC, Greg and GG) have negotiated a terrific arrangement for our next Lunch on Wed 17 May. More details will be communicated in coming weeks – but the essential facts are these:- we will catch the ferry at 11.00 as foot passengers, travel to Queenscliff and enjoy a tour, hopefully, of the new terminal. We will then sit down to a delicious 2 course meal, with a free glass of wine. The cost of $53 includes return ferry travel, a glass of wine, a 2 course meal and a guest speaker – and a great day.  please put this date in your calendar. Booking information will be advised in a couple of weeks.

That’s all for now. The second part of this Newsletter will include an appeal for support for ANZAC Day activities, Sorrento updates from Terry, a report form the Cravan Club, some info on our meeting at The Shed @ Stringers, Spirit of Sorrento News, request from the Sorrento Visitors Centre and much more.
