May 2022 Federal Election Q&A

Here in the Flinders electorate, we had 10 candidates. The Shed decided we would invite candidates to talk to the members and present their campaign.

Thursday, April 28th

Held at the Hangar with presentations from Despi O’Connor (Independant) and Chrysten Abraham (Liberal Democrats). Both candidates had an hour to present their campaigns to the members.

Hi Terry
Thank you sending through such fabulous entries for the CCA and Our Community Poli-pix competition!  In the running for one of our weekly $2000 prizes and of course the grand prize.  I’ll keep you posted!  Hats off to Point Nepean Men’s Shed – a great initiative to invite the pollies out for a Q and A with members.
We have shared your pictures on the Poli-pix webpage and will also share via socials.  See CCA Twitter , our brand new Instagram page and Our Community Facebook.  (Our Community will post early next week).
Good luck!  Thanks to you and everyone involved.  Shame about the free lunch – but great to see you’ve all got a good sense of humour and fun at the Point Nepean Men’s Shed!

Success !!!!!!!!  While the Eltham and Districts Historical Society took 1st prize in the latest round of Polipix – the Point Nepean Men’s Shed wins $500 as highly commended for your great initiative in inviting local candidates out for a Q & A and your second to none captioning!  https://www.communitycouncil.com.au/content/winning-more-ways-one

Thursday, May 5th

Another Q&A altered to a “debate” at the suggestion of some of the candidates. Surbhi Snowball (Labor) and Sarah Russell (Independant) gave us a good Q&A session on their campaign, policies, strategy and plans for the Flinders electorate.

Apologies received from Colin Lane, Zoe McKenzie and Cyndi Marr. All had work or party commitments.

Despi O’Connor  has been forced to suspend her campaign – Despi OConnor Section-44-vi.-letter

Wednesday, May 11th

The Shed members were invited to a presentation from the Liberal candidate for Flinders, Zoe McKenzie, and Senator James Paterson on Australia’s national security and intelligence landscape.

Zoe’s comment: Exceptional evening to discuss Australia’s national security and intelligence landscape, AUKUS, and recent events in Europe and the Asia-Pacific, together with Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, Senator James Paterson.
Thank you to the local RSLs, Men’s Shed and many members of Southern Mornington Peninsula Community for joining us, as well as Sam Groth and Susan Bissinger.
Thursday, May 12th

Final Q&A was arranged for any candidates who would still like to present to the Shed members.

Cyndi Marr (Pauline Hansen’s One Nation), Jefferson Earl (Australian federation Party) and Despi O’Connor accepted the invitation. Another informative session for the members. Some strong views from these candidates.

Note: Despi O’Connor had decided to restart her campaign – Despi Campaign-Statement-060522
