May 2022 Federal Election Q&A

Here in the Flinders electorate, we had 10 candidates. The Shed decided we would invite candidates to talk to the members and present their campaign.

Thursday, April 28th

Held at the Hangar with presentations from Despi O’Connor (Independant) and Chrysten Abraham (Liberal Democrats). Both candidates had an hour to present their campaigns to the members.

Thursday, May 5th:

Another Q&A was altered to a “debate” at the suggestion of some of the candidates. Surbhi Snowball (Labor) and Sarah Russell (Independant) gave us a good Q&A session on their campaign, policies, strategy and their plans for the Flinders electorate.

Wednesday, May 11th

The Shed members were invited to a presentation from the Liberal candidate for Flinders, Zoe McKenzie, and Senator James Paterson on Australia’s national security and intelligence landscape.

Zoe’s comment: Exceptional evening to discuss Australia’s national security and intelligence landscape, AUKUS, and recent events in Europe and the Asia-Pacific, together with Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, Senator James PatersonThank you to the local RSLs, Men’s Shed and many members of Southern Mornington Peninsula Community for joining us, as well as Sam Groth and Susan Bissinger.

Final Q&A was arranged for any candidates who would still like to present to the Shed members.

Cyndi Marr (Pauline Hansen’s One Nation), Jefferson Earl (Australian federation Party) and Despi O’Connor accepted the invitation. Another informative session for the members. Some strong views from these candidates.
