July 2021 Update

Member Activity:

Rye Primary Bike Program (James Rennie 0417 449 296): Try again after the lockdown and restrictions at the school!! Please contact James if you’d like to be involved.
Friday morning sessions at the Rye Primary school. 2 shifts between 9:50 and 11:30 – giving a 50-minute slot with the kids. The aim is to create a fleet of bikes the kids can use, but owned by the school.

Nesting Boxes Bushfire Recovery Program: 100+ nesting boxes completed. We have arranged delivery to a central collection centre in West Kalimna. From there, a local group will manage distribution to nominated bushfire impacted sites in Gippsland. Thanks to all the members who chipped in some time to the build of the boxes, very much appreciated.

Article on the VMSA Facebook page and in the local paper (shame they had the wrong names on the picture – I did give them the correct names!!)

Music Group (Warren Dickins 0419 514 351):
Many thanks to Richard Doery and his son for donating two PA speakers to the Music Group. One was not working well, however, we managed to repair it. These will be mounted in the Hanger for all to use.
We have two groups:

1. Guitarists and musicians.  No real skills required, just a late-life music crisis.
2. Music Appreciation.  For those who are interested in live or recorded music.

Member Luncheon: (Lino Tarquinio 0412 344 152): Just confirming a new date and time for the member lunch (which had to be deferred due to Covid).

PNMS Lunch, 12:30 pm Thurs. 12th Aug @ Hotel Sorrento

We still have places for any member who would like to join us at the Hotel Sorrento.

Our Community:

Petition for Homelessness (Rye Community House): You might be interested in signing this petition.  One of the ways to prevent family violence is to provide more housing options for those who experience it.  This petition calls on the Government to provide more social housing for those (mainly women and children) who experience violence from their intimate partner.
