Always a variety of “projects” for the guys to work on. These are just a few of the ones taken on in the past year.
Blairgowrie Community Garden members were looking for some help building their fixed raised garden beds. With the help of a few of our members, we soon saw the boxes created and filled with soil ready for planting.
St Josephs Primary School had a presentation on a reading aid – “Whisper Phones” – could the Men’s Shed make some? With a fair bit of cutting of the plastic pipe and attaching the elbow joints, we were able to deliver over 200 units for the kids to personalise!!
St Josephs Primary School asked for an update to the front entrance to the schoo. Brian and Ian sourced some old timber and repurposed this to the very neat bench seat now at the school.
Sorrento Pre-School asked if we could repair the diggers in the sandpit. Thank you Peter Moore who took the diggers and brought them back to life.
Sorrento Primary School loved the multi-level planters and asked for 4 more. Time for some extra hands at the shed creating the planters.
Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron asked if we could restore a “Minnow” and return to the club as a training boat for junior sailors. It took a while but the boat did get back to the BYS.
St Joseph’s Primary asked if we could build some “Buddy Benches” to replace one that had been damaged. Thanks to a Mornington Peninsula Shire flexi-grant we had the funds to build 2 permanent benches for the school. We provided an undercoat and the teachers are planning an exercise to decorate the benches.
