2022: The Memorial Pavers are in place.
The Shed was asked if we could help place the memorial pavers under the “Lest We Forget” rather than leave them as a simple pathway.
First step, replace the tiles with paving bricks the RSL had around the back. A whole new path was soon in place.
Second step, install the memorial pavers under the wall at the entrance to the RSL. Stones to be cleared and a frame installed to have the pavers sloping into the existing pathway. Crushed rock had been supplied to fill the bed for the permanent display. The end result looks fabulous. The right decision to move the pavers.
Note the blank pavers – a 7th paver is planned and the mosaic will be added when completed. Over to Jane Byrne now for the mosaic for the 7th paver – this one will have a naval theme.
Early in 2021:
The Men’s Shed was asked to help lay some mosaic tiles at the Sorento RSL in time for Anzac Day 2021 and again to add to the path for Remembrance Day 2021. The teachers and pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School Sorrento had designed and created the pavers. It only took a few minutes but the end result is rather special.
