At the end of term 4 2022, discussions were held with the teachers and the Shed regarding the men coming into the school and working with the kids on a variety of projects. The kids and teachers would lead the exercise with the men there to advise.
The Mornington Peninsula Shire has again generously supported our activities with a small grant to provide the materials needed. This grant has enabled us to extend the project scope.
Several small sawhorses have been constructed and donated to the school for the project.
Over 30 Lino cutting boards have been made and donated to the school art classes.
An initial project making small library book boxes has been considered. Some “kits” have been provided and the students will build the finished items.
Mud Kitchens have been created and placed at the 2 primary schools and are a huge hit with the students.

Term 2 saw the start of the woodwork sessions in the classroom. Thanks to Wayne Hammermeister and John Crough for supporting the staff on this one.
The students enjoyed some time updating a basketball backboard and exposure to using various hand tools. As a final exercise, the students decided that they would like to build dog kennels during the woodwork session. The guys at Bunnings Rosebud jumped in and donated 2 kits for this exercise.
The woodwork sessions may be over but it’s over to the students now to nominate “projects” they would like to introduce and how the Shed may interact within the program.
By the end of term 3 2023, we had included work for the Sorento Primary, St Joseph’s school playgroup, Sorrento PreSchool, Sorrento Early Learning, Sorrento RSL and Parks Victoria
